Angry residents barricade hotel over death of waitress in Umahia
Residents of Ohokobe Mbaocha Ndume Ibeku in Umuahia North Local Government area of Abia state, took to the streets recently to protest what was described as the mysterious death of Miss Happiness Emehara, who died in a popular hotel (Buri ji) located along Okwuta Ibeku road.
Photos of the protesters surfaced online on Tuesday as they brandished placards with different inscriptions, asking the hotel management to explain what it knows about Emehara’s demise.
Until her death on May31, the late Happiness Emehara was a staff of the hotel.
According to one of the deceased’s colleague, Favour Owom, the late waitress slumped in between the bathroom and a room, clutching a shower handle.
She said she had gone up to bring toothpaste for her to use, only to find out she had slumped when she returned.
The deceased was reportedly rushed to the hospital where she was confirmed dead.
