Suspected Fulani herdsmen kils traditional ruler in Taraba

A traditional ruler has been killed in a fresh attack allegedly carried out by suspected Fulani herdsmen in Karmen community in Ibi local government area of Taraba State yesterday January 15th.

According to reports, the elders in the community were having a meeting on how to secure themselves following the series of attacks witnessed in the state when some men believed to be Fulanis, stormed the venue of their meeting and attacked them.

The armed Fulani men started shooting. The local chief was killed during the attack, using Fulani sticks, by the attackers.

Confirming the attack, the Caretaker Chairman of Ibi local government council, Hon. Bala Bako, said one person has been arrested in connection with the attack. he mobilised security men who went and evacuated the corpse said, one person has been arrested in connection with the killing and investigation into the attack was ongoing.

68 persons have reportedly lost their lives in several communities across Taraba state in attacks suspected to have been carried out by Fulani herdsmen.
