A 38-year-old trader, Mrs Deborah Ogunsola, was on Friday delivered of triplets at the General Hospital, Omu-Aran, Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara.
A news correspondent who visited the hospital on Saturday, reports that the mother and the babies were in good condition.
The triplets, two boys and a girl, were said to have been delivered within minutes after the first baby was delivered at 12:11 a.m. through caesarean section.
Mr Joel Adeyemi, the Director (Nursing Services) at the hospital, described the condition of the mother and the babies as clinically perfect without any complication.
“As you can observe the mother and the babies are in the normal ward and doing fine.
“Although the babies were delivered through surgery, nonetheless the babies’ weights and condition, health-wise, are perfect,” he said.
Adeyemi said the hospital had witnessed more than 10 deliveries of twins in the last one month.
Ogunsola, the mother of the triplet, who is a pepper seller, said she was excited and had no sleepless night over the birth of the babies, saying they were gifts from God.
“The Almighty God that gave them to me will surely provide for their upkeeps,” she said.
Mr Abiodun Ogunsola, an electrician and father of the triplet, on his part, said he had no regret or fair over their birth.
He, however, said that the family would wholeheartedly welcome assistance from any individual or group as regards the medical bill and upkeep of the babies.
“Our God is awesome and kind; I know He will surely stand by the family,” he said.
Chief Festus Awoniyi, the Acting Traditional Head of Omu-Aran, described the birth of the triplets as a welcome development and a positive omen for the community.
It will be recalled that the traditional ruler of the community, the Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba Charles Ibitoye, joined his ancestors on Dec. 1, 2017.
Awoniyi, who is also the Petu Tayero of Omu-Aran, also said the birth of the triplet was a sign of more good tidings coming the way of the community.
Three brave schoolboys have been hailed as heroes after managing to stop a man from hanging himself from a high bridge.
According to a report by The Sun UK, The boys, Devonte Cafferkey-Wilson, Sami Farah and Shaun Young, all of Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire, did not hesitate when they spotted the troubled 21-year-old man on the wrong side of the bridge’s safety barrier with a rope round his neck and preparing to jump.
Aged 13, 14, and 12 at the time, the trio rushed to the barrier and managed to grab the man’s legs through the railings while Shaun ran to get a woman, Joanne Stammer, 47, who was passing by, to come and help.
She joined the other boys putting her arms through the barrier and round the man’s waist to pull him back.
Then James Higlett, 39, also of Waltham Cross, arrived at the scene and helped the others to hold the man who was struggling to get free until police and the fire service arrived to get him to safety.
The incident took place in September last year, and now the rescue heroes have all been awarded Royal Humane Society Certificates of Commendation.
They were given the awards following a recommendation from Hertfordshire Police who have said the man would certainly have died but for the swift action taken.
Andrew Chapman, Secretary of the Royal Humane Society added his personal praise he announced the awards at the Society’s London headquarters he said: “There is no doubt that without the quick thinking and action of the three boys the man would have jumped and would have died.
“They were the right people in the right place at the right time and showed tremendous presence of mind in acting as they did particularly bearing in mind their ages.
“All too often these days we hear stories about misdeeds by youngsters.
“If ever there was a story to balance up the bad ones this is it. These three excelled themselves.
“Their parents, their schools and everyone else should be incredibly proud of them.
“The two adults also played a major role in this harrowing incident and just like the boys, richly deserve the awards they are to receive.”

Father was reportedly feared by cult groups within Mushin, Itire, Lawanson and Ilasamaja areas of the state.

Following the cult war that started after his released,Commissioner of Police Imohimi Edgal, ordered Police detectives to fish out Father and his alleged killer gang members.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Chike Oti, said: “Based on credible intelligence available to us that some cultists led by Kanmi alias Father were planning to strike in Ilasamaja community on March 29, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, directed the Divisional Police Officer of Ilasamaja, SP. Oriyomi Oluwasanmi Titilayo to bring to an end the reign of the bloodthirsty cult henchman who had been terrorising that community for a long time now and had become worse since he came back from the prison.
“True to type, at exactly 5 pm, Kanmi, whose trademarks were sorrow, tears and blood, arrived the community with his gang unknown to him that his rank had been infiltrated by the underground operatives of the Command.”
The DPO’s team, already on standby for him and his gang, sighted Kanmi at Hassan Street, Ilasamaja with two of his criminal associates in a fight with a young man suspected to be a member of a rival confraternity. Kanmi had lifted his matchet to cut his rival before he was challenged by the police team.
“He immediately took to his heels and was pursued and arrested by the police. He was frisked and a locally-made pistol loaded with two cartridges was recovered from him. Also arrested was one Alami Samuel, 22, an associate of Kanmi.”
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police has warned those who belong to nefarious clandestine societies to renounce their membership or risk arrest and prosecution.

One week after a fire outbreak that destroyed over 30 stalls and goods worth millions of naira, traders at Binukonu Ultra-Modern Market in Ojota, Lagos have continued to count their losses.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the March 23 fire which started at about 1. 30 a.m, was caused by an electrical fault. It was the third time the market was guted by fire within three years.
A NAN correspondent who visited the market on Good Friday reports that the mood at the market remained somber following the fire incident.
The affected traders were seen trading from the booth of their vehicles or under the blazing sun with large umbrellas in their bid to get business back on the feet .
As part of early efforts to reconstruct the market, workers from the Kosofe Local Government came with three garbage trucks clearing debris from the burnt stalls.
One of the affected traders, Mrs Veronica Ehveve, told NAN that she lost goods worth over N1 million in the inferno.
“The fire affected me a lot because I just bought my goods on March 22 and by the next day everything just got burnt.
“Kosofe Local Government staff, led by the Chairman, Afolabi Sofola, came to the market on March 23 to see how much was destryed by the fire.
“Many traders had just borrowed money from the cooperatives and everything is gone,” she said.
Ehveve said she had no insurance and gave a passionate plea for government assistance.
“We want the government to help us to quickly rebuild this place which will make us leave where we are and go back to our stalls; we also need financial assistance,” she said.
Another trader, Godfrey Eboh, a popular cosmetics trader, told NAN that he lost three shops and goods worth at least N3 million in the blaze.
Eboh said: “It was not easy for me recovering from the fire incident, I had borrowed money from different sources to make my business grow when the incident happened.
“I own three shops, I use two for cosmetics and one for weavon and attachments, I lost goods worth N3million in 2015 fire incident and I also lost goods worth N3million during last Friday’s fire,” he said.
Eboh, who gave an emotional plea for government assistance said: “They should please help us, the economy has been so tough for us, right now we are looking up to God”.
Mr Gbenga Fayemi, the Secretary of Binukonu Market thanked the Kosofe Local Government for its prompt response to the tragedy.
Fayemi said:“I will like to thank the chairman, Mr Afolabi Sofola for his response, health inspectors and officials from the local government have been here to survey the area and clear the debris.
“Regarding rendering financial assistance to the affected traders, Hon. Sofola said he will make an appeal to Governor Ambode and we believe and hope something positive will emerge from that.
“The market executives have also gone to the Local Government Secretariat and the palace of the Oba of Ojota to express their feelings about the fire incident,” Fayemi said.
Mr Afolabi Sofola, Chairman, Kosofe Local Government, in a telephone interview with NAN, said that the council would commence reconstruction of the market immediately after Easter.
“We will make a passionate appeal to the state government to come to the aid of the traders.
“I am also going to make it mandatory for all our markets to be insured,” the Kosofe Local Government chairman said.
The Ojota monarch, Oba Olawale Cole, told NAN that the traders needed to be cautious about their health, safety and security following the fire incident.
“I had meetings with the Iya-Oloja and the market executives to brainstorm on measures to ensure that a similar incident never happen again.
“I have spoken with the Chairman of the local government and I am going to have a meeting with him too so that the Council of Obas and Kosofe Local Government will work together to prevent a reoccurrence,” he said.
Oba Cole said that there was need for the provision of fire-fighting equipment such as fire extinguishers and fire alarms in markets.
“These equipment should mandatorily be available for immediate use to contain the fire before the emergency services arrive at the scene,” the Lagos monarch said. (NAN)

Below is a narration from a Twitter user who claims that an Imam of over 50 years old has married a 14 yr old girl after he raped and impregnated her. According to the report from the Twitter user, the Imam bragged that nothing can be done to make him pay for raping the young girl who has now reportedly become his wife. Read the tweets below.
”I am angry right now. Yesterday, I heard a disturbing news that a fifty something years old Imam raped a 14 years old, accepted that he raped her and bragged that nothing will happen to him . When I spoke with the mother around 5.0 clock yesterday,
she was crying and asking for justice , that she needs help . I called people and we tried to fix an early appointment for her . What was I told when I called back ? he is now her husband.
I was told that it’s now a family issue and the parents have given their consent for the Imam to marry their daughter ! a 14 years old girl and that’s because she is pregnant. I tried to explain that she is a minor and that it is illegal for her to get married.
I tried to explain that rape has psychological effects but it all fell on deaf hears . Her parent do not want everyone talking about her. So tell me, how do we fight this menace ?
Same thing that happened once in Akoko-Edo LGA of Edo State when I was there for conference . The family wants justice this minute and there next minute they’re smiling with the perpetrator’s parents because they’ve settled them with a certain amount of money.
Hence you find yourself making fruitless effort to make them appear in court for their testimonies. It’s really sad.
I’ve informed the commisioner of police. Fixed appointment with the state ministry of women affairs. We are getting there. I will let you know how it goes”.

First Bank of Nigeria has apologized to its Twitter followers after the bank posted series of tweets that appeared to be mocking Thursday’s visit of President Muhammadu Buhari to Lagos.
The president’s two-day official visit to the state disrupted traffic and caused residents to embark on long walk to their destinations.
“Lagosians how far…. How was the trek this morning? The people still trekking, how’s the #WalkOfChange going,” the bank tweeted around 11:18 am on Thursday from its Twitter handle @FirstBankngr.
When a Twitter user (@Jenn_nikolas) tweeted at the bank that its tweet was “terrible to look at”, the bank offered a sarcastic response, “Don’t look. Keep trekking”.
Another Twitter user (@omookwah) told FirstBank, “This is an epic fail in an attempt to ‘hijack’ an issue. You lost the ‘emotional’ drift to this and got caught on the wrong side of story. Always remember…. Market share and mind share.”
“Story,” the bank responded.
FirstBank later pulled back after its tweets attracted barrage of criticisms.
“Dear Twitter Family. A tweet from us earlier in the day was totally inappropriate. As a responsible organization, we do not support or share humor taken too far. And that is what this was; humor taken too far. We take it back and apologize unreservedly,” the bank tweeted around 2:14 pm.
However, some are of the opinion that First Bank’s twitter account may have been hacked but the financial institution chose to keep it private so as to conserve the trust in them by teeming customers

Confusion and mayhem dominated on Wednesday in some villages close to Shiroro Hydroelectric Power Station when some protesters blocked Shakwut-Shiroro Road over the failure of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) to provide them electricity.
The affected villages included Sarkin-Pawa, Erena, Shakwatu Zumba, Mutumdaya, among others.
The protesters blocked the road and chanted war songs obstructing the free flow of traffic.
They lamented the fact that AEDC had failed to supply them electricity for more than two weeks despite their proximity to the source of energy.
They protested against the increase in their monthly bills from N1,000 to N1,500, stating there was no power so why would they pay the extra charges.
During the incident, armed soldiers were deployed to help in dispersing the protesters, who did not want to back down.
A witness said demonstrators lay on the road, and told the soldiers to shoot them.
The soldiers were forced to retreat as they could not make any headway.
Also, the members of a non-governmental organisation, Youth Lead Nigeria, had also laid siege to the Niger State headquarters of the AEDC in Minna for the second day in a row.
The youths had barred entry for any worker going in or coming out.
Mohammed Etsu, the Coordinator of the group, stated that they were protesting with the villagers on Wednesday due to AEDC’s failure on an agreement to give 12 hours’ power supply to the state daily.
An AEDC official purported the problem to a marked decrease in the supply which was coming from the national grid.
According to an unnamed official, the state’s megawatts daily had reduced by as much as 71 as they were receiving 29 megawatts daily, as opposed the 100 megawatts they got before.
Etsu, however, described the claim as false, saying AEDC “is deliberately refusing to buy energy.”
Mr. Paul Yakadi, the state Commissioner of Police, reportedly attempted to address the issue but there is no evidence of any progress in trying to get the youths and villagers to stop protesting as of this time.
