The outbreak of COVID-19 has affected virtually every aspect of life, religious gatherings inclusive. And now, Easter is fast approaching and many Christians are wondering how this year's Easter celebration will look like.
In a statement he made on Friday, April 10, President Muhammadu Buhari said it is unfortunate that Christians will not celebrate Easter the usual way in church, but rather in their houses because of the COVID-19 lockdown.
A 14-day lockdown had been declared in virtually all the states in the country in order to contain the spread of the virus.
However, President Buhari advised Christians not to lose their faith, and that they will overcome eventually.
He urged Christians not to give up now, but rather be steadfast in prayers and maintain a strong faith.
He also admonished them to stay safe even as they celebrate Easter on Sunday.
Nigeria has recorded about 288 positive COVID-19 cases and about 7 deaths so far.
